Yagya (Fire Ceremony) to Ma Durga, and Start to Navaratri

This is an opening fire ceremony, Yagya, hosted by Jason Adams for closing the Pitru Paksha and opening the Navaratri, 9 Nights of the Divine Feminine. This fire is dedicated to Ma Durga, the goddess that overcomes. Her energy is protective and nurturing, a kind yet fierce mother.

During the Navaratri, we honor her, and relive the mythology of Durga’s battle. Although in the mythology she is battling with the demons with all the aspects of the feminine separately, it is when she comes into wholeness, brings in all aspects of herself, the dark fierceness of Kali, the heart of Laksmi and the wisdom of Saraswati, only then is she able to slay the demon. The mythology is a symbol of our own inner transformation. The transformation cycles happen quarterly, yet fall is the time of big, visible transformation. I have noticed that the transformation upheaval happens for most on some level, whether we observe the time or not.

For me, I like to invite the Goddess in, that inner feminine. I like to take her hand, let her rearrange my life, move me away from things that are harmful, protect my time and energy. Some people make altars, fires, fast, etc. but awareness is the only thing that is needed. Thanking her for showing up. Asking questions…How would you have me live? How can I best be a caretaker of the feminine energy? How can I live more fully integrated? More beautifully? With more sustainability?

Jason will be hosting a ritual with the Sri Yantra that connects our body/mind to that feminine shakti principle at the end of Navratri. If these kinds of practices interest you, message for more details!
