Flower Essence for Being Present (with Ancestors)
Flower Essence for Being Present (with Ancestors)
There is some wild Honeysuckle growing in my neighborhood. This variety has fine, white flowers on a vine. It was calling to me to put this on the ancestor altar as it is a time of the year called Pitru Paksha, a time to honor those that came before us. Since then, I have been bringing in some small vines as an offering to the ancestors. When I brought it in, the scent really opened up, it is a very sweet nectar smell. It brightened up the environment straight away.
A few days after, I was doing some of my fall cabinet clearing, at the very back of the cabinet found the bottle of the essence, disconnected from my box of essences. Earlier, I hadn’t bothered to research the flower meaning or communication, but today I did. Bach Flower Essence description was “Embrace the Now”. I was blown away. What is the message for “Embracing the Now” when I am in process of connecting with the Past? As an omen, I am noticing the flower is a vine, clinging to the sweetness of the times past. For me, the message is to forge a new relationship with these people to mine the sweetness of the present. Is it possible that they have changed or evolved since they transitioned? Have I changed since we have last been together? I believe the answer is “YES” on both counts. How can I have an evolving, living relationship to someone that has died? To support this re-imagining of my past, and my present relationships I am turning to using the essences as a remedy.
From New Bach Flower Remedies: Healing the Emotional and Spiritual Causes of Illness, Dietmar Kramer: Honeysuckle is living in memories, in the past, in smells, in childhood, the “good old days”.
From Encyclopedia of Bach Flower Therapy, Mechthild Scheffer: “About Honeysuckle, Bach wrote: “This is the remedy to remove from the mind the regrets and sorrows of the past, to counteract all influences, all wishes and desires of the past and to bring us back to the present”. In the transformed, positive Honeysuckle state, however, we have a living connection to the past. Learning from it, but not clinging to it unnecessarily.”
I feel the invitation to allow my relationship to the past to evolve, to engage the excitement of experiencing my relationships differently and presently, all of them! Honeysuckle is saying to me, like Ram Dass “Be Here Now”! Enjoy the sweetness of the present moment. Per the ancestors guidance, I am adding this essence into my medicines this month.
If you would like your own astrological (using your natal chart) or an intuitively chosen flower essence mixture unique for you, let me know. The flowers work on the subtle body and often people don’t notice it, at first, as it is so gentle.
